Simple Recipe For Easy Chocolate Fondue

The great thing about chocolate fondues is that not only are these great ways to feed unexpected guests but these are easy dessert recipes, too. You need not slave away at the stove stirring to make the right dip just to take a bow when your guests compliment you on it, when you can have an easy chocolate fondue set up in no time at all!

Chocolate Fondue Is Back In Town!

These were a big hit in the 70′s (so my parents tell me), and there’s a good reason that they’re coming back into fashion.  Chocolate fountains can now be found at some of the trendiest restaurants around the world, they look spectacular (it always brings back childhood memories of Willa Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for me), and they are so easy to do!

But you must remember to keep the chocolate fondue as warm as possible but not hot. A ceramic fondue pot, the butter warmer placed over low flame, or a warm bowl all works well. Just make sure to reheat the bowl every few minutes in the microwave to maintain its desired temperature.

The first recipe for a really Easy Chocolate Fondue requires:

• 1 cup heavy cream
• 12 ounces chopped chocolate of any flavour that will complement the foods being dipped into it (semi-sweet, however, is the best)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

To make it two recipes, you can substitute the vanilla with 2-3 tablespoons of orange liqueur, brandy or rum for a kick.

Just heat the cream in a saucepan until it is hot, add the chocolate until melted, and then mix in the vanilla. The fondue can then be transferred to its appropriate container.

Either of these 2 easy chocolate fondue recipes can be served with fresh fruits like strawberries, apple wedges and pineapples as well as cake slices.  My favourite fruit to use is orange segments.  It takes a little work to cut the pith out of the orange, but it’s worth the extra effort for the explosion of sweet juices that mix in beautifully with the creamy velvet texture of rich dark chocolate, all together in one lovely mouthful.
